{Abby and Jay} Married

When you think "Maine" a few things typically come to mind like lobster, rocky coastline, woods, and rustic charm. Abby and Jay's wedding was the perfect Maine day, including all of these wonderful things.

Abby grew up on Deer Isle, and the wedding was held at the home of a family friend in a little cove right on the island. This was my first trip to Deer Isle, and as I made the long drive, I wasn't really sure what to expect. As I crossed over to the island though, I found myself getting more and more excited for the day as the scenery got prettier and prettier. I don't think my excitement ended for another two days, literally, as I spent the day and the evening with some of the nicest people I have ever met, at one of the most down to earth, loving, and fun weddings I have ever been to.

Abby got ready at her parents house, overlooking the rocky coast. I walked into smiles, mimosas, and un-sensored, candid conversation, and I immediately knew I would get along with this crowd very well.

We headed to the beach for the first look and formals. I could have stayed in this one spot all day...such an amazing combination of beach and woods!

Then it was off to the marina for some more pictures of Abby and Jay, along with their awesome, vintage, red VW Beetle car.

As we were leaving I commented that it was too bad that we couldn't get on any of the boats. Abby quickly remembered that her MOH's family had a boat in the marina, so I couldn't resist a shot of the two of them on it!

Then we headed north to the ceremony and reception site. I am so jealous of the lucky people who live in this house. what a view to wake up to every morning!

I wish I had had a tape recorder for Jay's vows. They were hilarious..and he knew it too!

Abby and Jay made their own wine for their guests. I got to taste it and it was aaaaaamazing! I loved this idea!

Have I mentioned I loved the beetle?

Dinner was amazing, and so very Maine! Lobster, corn on the cob, pig roast, potato salad, shrimp. It was incredible!

The Pete Kilpatrick Band kept the dance floor full all night long. I saw PKB a few years ago with Guster and absolutely loved them. When I met Abby and Jay for the first time and they told me they had hired Pete, I think Abby thought I was a crazy person because I was so excited. They are phenomenal and did an awesome mix of cover songs and their own music.

Abby and Jay, you are seriously amazing people. I can't thank you and your guests enough for making me feel so welcome at your wedding. I wish you every happiness!

  1. Kristina,
Honestly your pictures get more and more amazing with every post. Can't wait to see what that means for ten months from now in June 2012 :)
