Florida, 2010

Finally! Its only been a month, but pictures from our Florida trip are finally done and ready to be shared! My in-laws decided it was time to start spending their winters somewhere a bit warmer, so they made the trip down for a few months, and invited my husband, Jim, and I down for a bit of sun in February. While we missed the 80 degrees Florida is known for (of course, it arrived the day after we left), we enjoyed a warm-to-us 60 degrees and some great family time.

This is the view from my in-laws' condo. Not to shabby huh?

I woke up a bit early on our first morning there, so I decided to take a walk with my camera. Little did I know I would find this incredible sunrise over Fort Myers.

The Edison and Ford Estates were much more than the fun inventions I posted in my earlier entry. The houses were beautiful, and the flowers were a photographer's dream. Of course, the palm trees didn't hurt much either!

These are my in-laws. Aren't they adorable??

Of course, no trip to Fort Myers is complete without a visit to Red Sox spring training!! Unfortunately though, the Sox weren't arriving in town until the day after we left (like the 80 degrees!). We were able to get into City of Palms Park though, and just sitting in the sun at the stadium was good enough for me.

I got the guts to trust some nice man from Massachusetts with my camera to get a fun group shot.

We also made a day trip to Sanibel and Captiva Islands. If you've never been...go!! I can't wait to go back and spend some time there. I couldn't believe how blue and "Caribbean like" the water was. I was pretty much in Heaven all day. (My husband calls me "solar powered wifey"..I belong in like St. John full time I think).

The "sand" was seashells..how cool is that?

And finally, as we started the long drive (yes we drove, no, we're not crazy) home, we decided to stop at Daytona Beach. Did you know you can actually DRIVE on the beach there? It was so fun!

And of course, no vacation is complete without the perfect self portrait. Please don't take offense to my husband's t-shirt. If you read it closely, you'll see that it says "Salt Lake, Utah" You can thank his sister for that one :)

Thanks again to my in-laws, Mike and Mary, for treating us to a great vacation! We can't wait to see you again in Maine in a few short weeks!
